HDPE Geomembrane
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) is the most widely used geomembrane and is the preferred choice for lining projects due to its durability, strong UV resistance and relatively inexpensive material cost.

LLDPE Geomembrane
Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) geomembranes provide more flexibility compared to HDPE, making it more appropriate for installers who require an impermeable geomembrane. It is made with virgin polyethylene resins, making it resistant to low temperature and ultraviolet exposure.

PVC Geomembrane
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) geomembranes is a thermoplastic waterproofing material made with vinyl, plasticisers and stabilisers. It is tear, puncture and abrasion resistant meaning the material is perfect for preventing contaminants from entering water sources and maintaining potable drinking water.

EPDM Geomembrane
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) geomembrane is a flexible and durable material that can resist punctures and extreme weather conditions. It has a rubber-like texture and is UV-stable with great strength.

RPP Geomembrane
Reinforced Polypropylene (RPP) geomembranes are polyester reinforced liners for long term water containment and industrial waste applications. It's made from a UV-stabilized polypropylene copolymer that gives the material flexibility, stability and chemical resistance.

TRP Geomembrane
Reinforced Polyethylene (TRP) geomembranes are almost the same as the RPP, but use polyethylene fabric instead of polyester. TRP geomembranes are also a durable solution for soil remediation. Its physical properties include chemical resistance, low temperature range and ultraviolet stability.

Surface of Geomembrane

Geomembrane could make double sides smooth, one side smooth and one side textured, double sides textured surface.
The textured surface is rough, it can add the friction between geomembrane liner and other products. Because the textured surface geomembrane is not flat, the friction is high, the geomembrane liner cannot slip at the slop, and the workers can stand there, it is antislip and stable.
The textured surface geomembrane is made of polyethylene material, first step is to make the smooth geomembrane liner, the basic smooth geomembrane can have a good property, the second step is to make the textured surface geomembrane, the polyethylene raw material is melted and sprayed on the smooth geomembrane liner. The textured geomembrane liner can be produced 8m width and has a blank area at each side,20cm smooth area, which can be used to weld the geomembrane liners together.

Geomembrane Installation

Site Preparation:
The site where the geomembrane is to be installed must be cleared of any debris, rocks, and vegetation. The ground surface should be smooth and level. Any sharp or protruding objects should be removed or smoothed out to prevent damage to the geomembrane.

Subgrade Preparation:
The subgrade must be prepared by compacting the soil to ensure a stable base for the geomembrane. The subgrade should be free of any voids or depressions that would cause it to be stretched or punctured.

Geomembrane Unrolling:
The geomembrane is unrolled onto the prepared subgrade. It should be unrolled in the direction specified by the manufacturer and according to the design plan. Care should be taken to avoid any wrinkles or folds in the geomembrane.

Seaming:
The geomembrane panels are seamed together using a variety of methods, including heat welding, adhesive bonding, or mechanical fastening. Seams must be inspected to ensure that they are strong and leak-free.

Anchor Trenching:
The edges of the geomembrane are anchored in a trench to prevent uplift due to wind or water. The anchor trench is typically backfilled with soil or a ballast material.

Testing:
The geomembrane installation is tested to ensure that it meets the design specifications and is free of leaks. Testing methods may include air pressure testing, vacuum testing, or electrical leak detection.

Covering:
Once the it is installed and tested, it may be covered with a protective layer of soil, gravel, or other materials, depending on the design requirements.

FAQ

Q: How do geomembranes resist biological degradation?

A: Most geomembranes are resistant to biological degradation. However, microbial attack can occur at the exposed surface if proper protection or preventive measures are not taken.

Q: What is the maximum size of geomembrane panels available?

A: The size of geomembrane panels can vary depending on the manufacturer, but they are typically available in widths ranging from 4 to 8 meters (13 to 26 feet) and can be manufactured in longer lengths.

Q: Are geomembranes suitable for use in saltwater environments?

A: Yes, geomembranes can be used in saltwater environments, but the specific material and formulation should be selected to ensure resistance to saltwater and marine organisms.

Q: Can geomembranes be used for waterproofing basements or tunnels?

A: Yes, geomembranes can be used for waterproofing basements, tunnels, or other below-grade structures, providing an effective barrier against water intrusion.

Q: What are the considerations for geomembrane selection in floating cover applications?

A: When selecting a geomembrane for floating cover applications, factors such as tensile strength, flexibility, UV resistance, and compatibility with the floating cover material should be taken into account.

Q: What are the maintenance requirements for geomembranes?

A: Geomembranes generally require minimal maintenance. Regular inspections, removal of debris or vegetation, and prompt repair of any damages or leaks are recommended to ensure their long-term performance.
