Subgrade Preparation and Installation Process

Before liner placement, the landfill subgrade underwent comprehensive treatment to achieve a smooth and stable foundation.

Surface Leveling:
The compacted soil base was graded to a slope of 3%, ensuring proper drainage and minimizing stress concentrations on the liner.

Compaction & Cushion Layer:
A 20 cm-thick sand cushion was applied to protect the geomembrana from puncture by sharp particles.

Geomembrana Deployment:
The HDPE geomembrana sheets were unrolled using a mechanical spreader, avoiding wrinkles and excessive tension. All overlaps were kept between 100–150 mm.

Seam Welding:

Hot wedge fusion was used for primary seam joints.

Extrusion welding was applied at corners, irregular areas, and penetrations.

Every weld was visually inspected and air pressure tested.

Anchor Trench Installation:
The liner edges were fixed within concrete-filled anchor trenches to prevent movement during backfilling or settlement.


Quality Assurance and Testing

To ensure compliance with ASTM and GRI standards, multiple QA/QC tests were conducted both on-site and in laboratories:

Shear and peel strength tests for welded seams

Tensile strength and elongation tests for liner integrity

Vacuum box testing for non-destructive verification

Spark testing at patch areas for leak detection

All test results met or exceeded project specifications, confirming a leak-free barrier performance.
