1. Fully understand the definition and principle of welding:
Welding is the process of partially melting two materials by heating them, then cooling them to form a joint. For 2.0mm thick smooth HDPE geomembrane, welding involves heating two pieces of geomembrane to partially melt them, then cooling them to form a complete anti leakage structure.
2. Determine the applicable welding method:
Hot air welding: By heating the high temperature generated by the air gun, the geotextile film is heated to a molten state and rapidly cooled, causing it to react chemically with other geotextile materials, forming a strong welding joint.
Extrusion welding: By heating the high-temperature melt generated by the extrusion welding machine, the edge of the geomembrane is heated to a molten state, and a certain width of melt is quickly extruded to bond with another piece of geomembrane edge.
3. Prepare the necessary tools and materials for welding:
To improve welding quality and effectiveness, use appropriate tools and materials:
Tools required for hot air welding: hot air gun, process thermometer, welding pressure roller.
Tools required for extrusion welding: extrusion welding machine, melt glue particles, melt glue nozzle.
Additional materials required: cleaning cotton cloth, scraper.
4. Preparation before welding:
Before welding, it is essential to thoroughly clean the welding area to remove any dust, oil, and other impurities, in order to improve the quality of the welded joint. Use a clean cotton cloth to wipe the welding area and use a scraper to trim the edges flat and neat for subsequent welding operations.
5. Welding operation steps:
According to the selected welding method, turn on the corresponding tool switch and adjust the temperature and operating speed.
Keep the nozzle of the hot air gun or extrusion welding machine at an appropriate distance and move it evenly within the appropriate time to fully heat the edge of the geomembrane.
Hot air welding method: Quickly press the edge of the geomembrane heated to a molten state, allowing it to cool and form a firm joint.
Extrusion welding method: The edge of the geotextile film heated to a molten state is bonded to the edge of another geotextile film, and a certain width of adhesive is extruded to form a dense adhesive layer.
Through the above steps, the 2.0mm thick smooth HDPE geomembrane can be successfully welded into a complete anti leakage structure.
